2024 Title IX Regulations - See Update
UPDATE: Although the new regulations were effective on August 1, 2024, Penn is among the more than 700 institutions enjoined from implementing those regulations.
On Friday, April 19, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education published the unofficial version of the final regulations for Title IX (PDF) which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex. The new regulations (see official version below) are effective on August 1, 2024, and also include provisions that expand protections for Penn students, trainees, faculty, and staff who are pregnant or parenting. The Department of Education has posted information that summarizes major changes that can be downloaded here. (PDF)
The University is reviewing the new regulations and will update its policies to ensure that Penn continues to be in compliance with Title IX. As is the University’s practice, a penultimate draft of any proposed policy changes will be published in Almanac for comment before the final version is published. If you have comments, questions or suggestions, please send them to 2024TitleIX@upenn.edu.
